Description
SUMMARY
The Snowcat and Equipment Mechanic is responsible for the safe and efficient maintenance and repair of Bogus Basin’s fleet of Pisten Bully groomers, snow removal equipment, and fleet vehicles.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
- Troubleshoot and repair snowcats, heavy equipment, rolling stock, and small engines.
- Maintain shop in a clean and orderly fashion.
- Assist and advise in implementing preventative maintenance plans for machinery.
- Repair electrical systems including starting systems, lighting, wiring, switches, and engine controls.
- Perform basic welding and fabrication.
- Communicate maintenance issues and timelines to appropriate departments.
- Document all work done on equipment and machinery.
- Follow all department and company safety practices and procedures.
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
- Assist with special projects including other departments’ projects, as needed.
- Assist with guests in areas such as traffic control, jump starts, and selling gas.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Requirements
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Passionate about Bogus Basin’s Mission.
- 2 years’ experience or equivalent training in vehicle maintenance and repair.
- Working knowledge of gas and diesel engines and hydraulic and hydro-static systems.
- Welding and acetylene cutting experience.
- Ability to work independently and in a team setting.
- Ability to operate large machinery to include, but not limited to, snowcats, forklifts, loaders, and plow trucks.
- Ability to lift 50lbs.
- Valid Class A Driver’s License
- Ability to dismantle, repair, construct, and maintain machinery and equipment
- Capable of handling multiple projects with competing priorities.
- High school diploma, GED, or vocational training.
- Basic computer skills required.
- Electronic catalog experience and previous heavy equipment experience a plus.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Vehicle maintenance shop environment
- Outdoor environment; exposed to inclement weather and adverse conditions.
