The incumbent shall be responsible for providing patient care services under the direction and supervision of a physician in a clinical and/or school team environment consistent with incumbent’s education, training, and experience, certification and licensure.
The incumbent shall develop relationships within the sports medicine team, local organizations and schools.
The incumbent shall demonstrate accountability for and contribution to program development, quality improvement, problem-solving and productivity enhancement in a flexible team fashion.

Employment Qualifications
▪ The incumbent shall, at a minimum, be a graduate of an CAATE accredited athletic training program and must hold BOC certification, and a current license to practice as an athletic trainer in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
▪ Education/experience in working with school age, adolescent, and adult population is necessary; education/experience in a physician office or rehabilitation setting is desirable.
Essential Job Functions
▪ Provide age appropriate therapeutic interventions under the supervision of a physician.
▪ Evaluate and assess patient response to therapeutic interventions.
▪ Document patient care rendered including the patient’s response to treatment and clinical evidence supporting a continuing need for treatment.
▪ Provide patient and family education on treatments of modalities and resources that will assist the patient in achieving functional independence.
▪ Collaborate with physical therapists to develop methods for providing education to patients and families.
▪ Participate in sporting event coverage under the supervision of the medical director.
▪ Work in a collaborative manner with clinical team members, provide athletic training services and support for physicians and other clinical/ancillary staff within an outreach, primary care sports medicine and/or orthopedic clinical setting.
▪ Under the supervision of a physician, participates in the provision of patient care commensurate with the athletic trainer’s professional education and training, certification, licensure, and permitted scope of practice. Such care may include evaluation of athletes and provision of treatment modalities
▪ Document all aspects of evaluation, testing, and patient care activities appropriately within the EMR.
▪ Serve as liaison between the Bon Secours Sports Medicine Team (Primary Care Sports Medicine, Orthopedics, Athletic Training, Rehab, etc.) to ensure continuity of care, communication, and collaboration among all providers.
▪ Use excellent written and verbal communication in all aspects of interactions with athletes, athletes’ families, staff, internal physicians and providers, and external physicians and providers.
▪ Maintain and develop a professional image, attitude and reputation; protect and develop the Bon Secours brand via suitable public relations/community outreach activities.
▪ Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with all HIPAA, OSHA and TJC-related requirements, policies and procedures.
