Do you enjoy leading those to problem solving by applying scientific principles to analyze, design, invent, and build to solve manufacturing problems? Well, this job is for you!  You will provide leadership and be a visionary to the Newnan Plant engineering team.  You will be reporting directly to the Plant Manager. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Regularly communicates by using but not limited to daily huddles with the engineering team to ensure consistency and to ensure timely and accurate completion of engineering tasks.

  • Leads the engineering team with a positive attitude that is in alignment with teamwork mission and vision and values of the organization.
    Analyze technology, resource needs, risks, and associated costs to assess the feasibility of projects.
  • Perform root-cause analysis as well as implement sustainable countermeasures on losses related to electrical and mechanical failures.
  • Provide technical assistance to the production and maintenance departments.
  • Conduct behavior-based audits and 5S audits as well as support plants Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) goals.
  • Participate in Incident & Near Miss Investigations to determine root cause and corrective actions.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to production teams during new product launches and analyze process data to identify trends and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Communicate progress and status updates to key stakeholders, including senior management.
  • Manage budgeting for mechanical vendor and ensure adherence to target agreements.
  • Leadership on conflict resolution (bottle necks, resources, challenges), collaborate within the plant manager, select suitable team members, and promote individual employee development within the organization.
  • Respond to questions, troubleshoot, provide studies and estimates for upcoming projects.
  • Provide cost effective solutions to problems affecting the customer product while maintaining the integrity of the design.
  • Establishing relationships with customer facing organization, vendors, and suppliers.
  • Maintain scheduling and resources for the department.
     

Team Leadership & People Development:

  • Develops and drive a culture of performance management and accountability
    Supervise and resolve issues brought forth by the engineering team members.
    Mentors and is engaged in the personal development of the engineering team to ensure ongoing growth of technical organizational and management skills.
  • Assist in the growth of the engineering department with college Intern programs. 
  • Work with the Engineering Horizontal team to develop best practices throughout the organization. 

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have a bachelor’s degree, preferably in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) AND 2 years of related work experience in production assembly/fabrication including composites, metallic, coatings application, and/or production manufacturing operations.
  • Must have 2 years of prior management/leadership experience in Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Ability to work 1st shift "7am-4:30pm" and any work schedule (times may vary).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working hands-on in a production assembly line environment.
  • Experience providing innovative techniques focused on improving product designs and tooling assemblies or equipment.
  • Complex assembly or composite experience and process knowledge.
  • An understanding of Engineering, Tooling, Production, Program Management.
