DEPARTMENT: PACKING
JOB TITLE: PACKER MATERIAL HANDLER
REPORTS TO: Packing Facilitator
SHIFT DAYS /HOURS: 10 hr. shifts (Mon-Thurs) 7:00 am- 5:00 pm) Must be willing and able to work Mandatory OT on off days as necessary.
STARTING PAY: $19.17 per hour.
The Packer Material Handler is an essential part of the manufacturing team and ensures the flow of finished products that are necessary for the Bonnell business to be successful. The Packer Material Handler will consist of all functions related to transporting Bonnell parts to specific areas.
What You Will Be Responsible For:
- Unload age ovens.
- Stage metal for cooling or put in stations as directed by the packing supervisor.
- Set up racks on wheels for packing stations.
- Handle all material after it has been packed.
- Weigh bundles and/or racks.
- Stage as directed on the shipping dock or in the stock area.
- Return all empty racks to the extrusion department on return line.
- Empty all dumpsters and trash in the packing department.
- Assist with packing/banding/etc. when not performing other duties.
- Communicate effectively with Supervisors, Line Leaders, and co-workers.
- Keep work area clean and safe.
- Wear required PPE.
- Inform Supervisor of any quality or equipment or safety concerns.
- Work without supervision at a good pace.
- Have an acute awareness of conditions and hazards associated with the job.
- Perform other duties assigned by Supervisor.
- These duties may require the temporary transfer to another department.
Work Environment / Physical Demands:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
- The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually loud and always without air conditioning.
What You Will Need:
- Must be able to read and understand shop orders.
- Must be able to read and understand tape measures.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
- Must be able to use banding equipment, air nail gun, and radial arm wood saw.
- Must be able to read and understand Bonnell shop orders.
- Must be able to understand decimals, fractions, and tolerances.
- Must be able to use various quality gauges.
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Basic math skills
