The Team Member is responsible for providing each customer with the highest level of customer service. In Yogurt Mountain, Books-A-Million, Bookland, and Books & Co. stores, all Associates are booksellers.
Team Member Responsibilities
- Maintain the highest level of customer service to each customer.
- Providing a fast and friendly guest experience.
- Greeting every customer who comes in.
- Provide a clean workplace which includes following various cleaning checklists and following appropriate health and safety standards.

Cashier Job SummaryThe Cashier is responsible for the overall operation and accounting of their register, providing each customer with the highest level of customer service, completing customer’s transactions accurately and in a timely manner, promoting company initiatives, and merchandising product at the register.
Cashier Responsibilities
- Maintain the highest level of customer service to each customer.
- Utilize a standardized procedure for each customer transaction:
- Greeting the customers as they approach the register.
- Asking customers if they found everything they wanted.
- Calling for back up by name when more than three customers are in line at your register.
- Using customers’ names whenever possible – from check, credit card, or Discount Card.
- Thanking the customers and inviting them back to the store.
- Successfully promote all company initiatives, including pre-sale vouchers and donation programs.
Job Requirements
Preferred Skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills.- Ability to multi-task.
- Ability to learn and operate multiple café machines, including, but not limited to blenders, ovens, espresso machines, and cash registers.
- Demonstrated customer service skills.
- Cash handling skills.
Physical and Environmental Requirements
Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.- Must be able to operate a computer or register.
- Must be able to use hands/arms to operate machinery, telephone and for repetitive motion activities.
- Must be able to lift/push objects up to 15 lbs. on a regular basis and up to 25 lbs. on a periodic basis with or without assistance.
- Must be able to communicate using speech, sight, and sound with or without assistive device.
Must be able to stand, walk, stoop, bend, twist, crouch, or reach while performing daily activities of the job.
