What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pasteurizer position at Borden?
The Pasteurizer is responsible for ensuring that all known pathogens are pasteurized and product is homogenized. Run and maintain pasteurizer and other related equipment within dairy production environment. High responsibility – Responsible for quality, food safety and product specifications.
- Operate all pasteurizing equipment in accordance with state and federal regulations.
- Mix and blend products that meet all plant specifications.
- Ability to tear down and reassemble H.T.S.T., mix tanks and production line machines and equipment
- Clean equipment manually and automatically through utilization of CIP systems.
- Fill out and maintain all necessary documentation according to Prairie Farms policy and all regulatory policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
- Monitor the critical control point limits at the pasteurizing unit and perform appropriate verification activities.
- Perform regulatory equipment verification checks – cut in and out, indicating thermometer checks on the pasteurizing units.
- All other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Comply with company GMP’s, SSOP’s, SOP’s, and safety requirements.
Job Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED preferred; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or, equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
- Experience within the food and beverage industry preferred.
- Must be able to stand, walk, kneel and bend for virtually the entire shift. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally including overhead.
- Must be able to work in a wet environment. Some exposure to cleaning chemicals.
- Must be willing to work flexible hours including overtime, weekends and holidays.
- Be able to effectively work in a team environment.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
