What are the responsibilities and job description for the Yard Spotter position at Borden?
Summary: Coleman team members are expected to share our drive to be the best. We do not cut corners or compromise when it comes to Customer Service, Accountability, Quality and Safety. This position is expected to spot trailers at loading and unloading docks. The Driver/Spotter position will work as an equal team member and help us obtain our goals by performing the following duties and working with other employees.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. (Others duties may be assigned.)
- Understand and follow: Turner Holdings standard operating procedures for shipping department.
- Drives and backs tractor/trailers up to dock for loading and unloading and parks them in designated area when loaded.
- Ensures refer units are working properly before spotting trailer and that trailer is properly attached to trailer before moving.
- Inspect all contract hauler trailers for damage upon arrival on yard.
- Make sure trailer brakes are properly set, unload empty cases from trucks and trailers and close doors to trailer and ensure that each trailer is properly sealed before leaving loading dock.
- Periodically records refer temperatures of all loaded trailers and check refer fuel tanks for adequate fuel before spotting trailer.
- Follow safety procedures to insure safe operation and notify supervisor of any mechanical issues with trailers.
- Operate industrial fork lift to assist in loading or moving product. Follow Forklift Safety procedures as outlined in OSHA standards.
- Performs other routine warehousing and manual cleaning chores, as need requires.
- Special projects assigned by management.
Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
