BASIC FUNCTION:
Provides support and assistance to Plant Quality Engineering group to ensure the quality and integrity of components and products which are produced by suppliers and/or in-house.
Responsible to audit the Quality checks and testing of products at various stages of the
production process.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Must have the ability to read and understand control plans and Quality documents
- Able to set-up & run testers and can train others
- Must be able to understand and discern good from bad on the EOL test plots
- Ability to understand and discern good from bad on all EPV and Control Plan checks
- Must be able to support and lead identifying good and nonconforming parts
- Perform multiple tasks at one time on a high-volume production line
- Work independently in off shifts and provide support to quality, operations and manufacturing teams on supplier-related and internal issues.
- Supports containment activities through material transfer, sort efforts, and communication of sorting criteria & methodology to others.
- Initiate sorting activities and work with/supervise a third-party sorting company
- Ensures internal customer needs for issues and projects are met in a timely and appropriate manner.
- Applies knowledge of inspection techniques to provide timely and accurate data in order to make decisions.
- Responds, investigates, and resolves day-to-day quality issues in a proactive manner.
- Supports scrap investigation, review, and disposition of parts including data entry and collection.
- Provides advice and solutions to appropriate personnel based on sound problem analysis.
- Assists in completion of internal PPAP documentation – facilitating submission to the lab, monitoring PPAP builds, completion of capability studies, collection of supporting documentation from other departments. Compiles information in support of submission.
- Conducts capability studies and accurately interprets and communicates the results.
- Manages Quality Alerts – administration and assistance with training.
- Utilizes measurement system analysis (gage R&R, linearity, etc.).
- Perform GRR activities on production gages and balancers.
- Performance of Layered Process Audits
- Responsible for maintaining inventory of Quality Hold materials – Q-hold, S-block, PPAP – physical & electronic correlation.
- Maintains confidential information.
- Understands and adheres to current health, safety, and environmental policies.
- Understands and adheres to current quality and control policies.
- Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Requires High School Diploma/GED
- Technical School degree in CNC Machining, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, or equivalent degree / experience preferred.
- Proficient at Blueprint reading & interpretation
- Ability to inspect final assemblies and components
- Must have ability to read process sheets
- Working knowledge of measurement equipment selection and inspection techniques
- Thorough knowledge of assembly processes and assembly line/tester setup.
- Proficient computer skills – MS PowerPoint, Excel, Word, SAP,
- Strong proficiency in spreadsheets, databases, data manipulation, statistical analysis
- Able to manage multiple priorities
- Excellent communication skills
- Minitab experience preferred
- Understanding of turbochargers, components and engines preferred.
- Must have or be willing to acquire a forklift license for basic material movement as needed.
- Knowledgeable in SPC, Control Plans, FMEAs, and PPAPs.
- The position is responsible for a great deal of self-driven, proactive work. This individual must be effective at working in a self-guided manner.
- This position is continually reviewing problems and unexpected events with plant personnel, engineering, and management staff. Employees filling this position may have extensive contact with supplier and/or customers, sometimes reviewing technical issues that are very difficult to resolve. Excellent inter-personal skills are required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Job could require constant standing and walking the entire shift.
- May require lifting of up to 50 pounds occasionally during a scheduled shift.

WORKING ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
- May be exposed to moderate heat, light dust and fumes.
- Adequate hearing protection is required for 85 decibels and above.
- May be exposed to various packaging materials including rust preventive.
- Job could require presence in forklift traffic area.
