The Translational Research Lab at Boston Children's Hospital and Harvard Medical School are seeking an experienced software engineer to further develop and maintain a custom healthcare software program, and to use its database for research projects. The program integrates data from multiple production clinical sources via a constantly updating ETL process. The API retrieves data elements from dedicated tables, transforms them further, and presents to a custom front end. The ideal candidate will have experience with the ETL process, with natural language processing, and will possess strong logical and teamwork skills. The candidate will join a small but experienced development team.
Qualifications
- Object-oriented/object function scripting languages: Python (Pandas, NumPy, Sklearn), Java, Scala.
- We are looking for a candidate with experience in a data scientist role, ideally with a graduate degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems or another quantitative field. They should also have experience using the following software/tools:
- Relational SQL and NoSQL databases, including Oracle, MySQL, Postgres, MSSQL
Additionally, experience with the following would be helpful:
- Big data tools: Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, NiFi.
- Data pipeline and workflow management tools: Luigi, Airflow
- Stream-processing systems: Spark-Streaming
- Advanced working knowledge of SQL including authoring queries and experience working with relational databases.
- Experience building and optimizing ‘big data’ data pipelines, architectures, and data sets.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
