Position Description
This position will deliver readily available and actionable data to inform and influence team decision-making, and drive better patient care and outcomes. Provides data support for aggregation of healthcare data including quality, patient, financial information to support departmental reporting needs. Will also provide analytical and technical guidance to clients.
The Healthcare Data Analyst will:
- Research, design, develop, implement and maintain reporting and analytical facilities in the context of the hospital's clinical and/or financial systems.
- Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to ensure that reports are timely, accurate, meaningful, and interpretable.
- Ensure that analyses and reports provide detailed, specific data regarding performance of individuals, teams, programs, divisions, and the department as a whole.
- Generate reports from a variety of internal and external sources including benchmarking databases e.g. PHIS, PACT, and specialty specific registries.
- Perform standardized data validation activities to ensure the highest quality information for decision-making.
- Build new databases as needed and maintain a valid and accurate data repository to ensure availability of required information; Advise clients on the development of data collection and management systems; Define specifications for key data elements, data collection procedures, and integrity of databases.
- Improve and maintain the production environment for tasks and applications.
- Using visualization tools and techniques, create dashboards and reports for decision-making.
- Provide analyses and reports of performance indicators, providing trended data using statistical process control or other appropriate epidemiological techniques.
- Interpret data and provide team with data-driven recommendations.
- High School Diploma/GED is required.
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science or relevant Data Analytical field such as Economics, MPH, and Data Analytics Boot Camp is preferred.
- Two years of experience using Data Analytics tools is required, preferably in a clinical setting.
- Proficient in SQL syntax and coding practices.
- Experience with dimensional data modeling concepts used in data warehousing, business intelligence and business analytics applications.
- Ability to translate reporting needs expressed in clinical or operational terms to technical solutions based on existing data, data structures and query tool functionality.
