What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operations Director - BCG U position at Boston Consulting Group?
As the Operations Director within “BCG U” you will be sought as a thought partner, supporting leadership in setting the strategic agenda and defining implementation activities for the business while also providing ad hoc support for priority initiatives and projects across BCG U. You will work closely with the Global Operations Executive Director and the Leadership Team to drive coordination and development of BCG U’s business globally and to ensure operational effectiveness. You will manage the creation of and facilitate the implementation of the people plan, supporting Regional BCG U leaders on recruiting, staffing and team development. You will also help our regional teams develop and manage our commercial pipeline. Other tasks include developing our business analysis and planning, organizational development, support with communications and positioning (together with BCG U’s senior marketing manager), and creative input to team affiliation activities.
Over time you would take on management of BCG U’s PA coordinator and potentially further team members.
In close collaboration with the Global Operations Executive Director individual responsibilities include
Driving commercialization activities and helping develop go-to-market channels for BCG U; supporting the mission to position BCG U as undisputed leader in delivering the largest, most ambitious transformations through an activist entity that shapes large programs and helps them succeed
Managing and monitoring of the global state of the business (e.g. lead flow, proposal pipeline and sold cases) in collaboration with our case teams; supporting business development activities for selected priority products or geographies (planning and tracking of activities, supporting go-to-market initiatives)
Providing inputs to the Leadership Team and the Sr. Marketing Manager to plan publications, newsletters, internal and external events for BCG U; develop a SATT strategy for BCG U and plan activities
Overseeing key operational processes that ensure BCG U’s profitable business performance, growth, and people satisfaction
Developing a people plan and managing the growth of capacity in all BCG U teams according to the business needs
Helping fine tune and innovate the staffing process for BCG U team members on all levels
Managing financial analytics, budgets and revenue forecasts in collaboration with the Finance team
Together with the Chief Product Officer, gather and analyze information on differentiating IP, business models and offerings of key competitors
Together with the Sr. Marketing Manager oversee the BCG U’s content on on internal microsites/Navigator and externally on BCG.com and be the liaison to industry platforms and associations that BCG U partners with
Supporting the management and development of the network of BCG U vendors in close collaboration with BCG U’s Tech team
Further developing BCG U’s internal network with EC, OC, PALs, Sector- and Topic Leaders, BCG Function leaders
Managing special BCG U operations innovations projects
Orchestrating complex agendas, align senior leadership, prioritize activities and work with others to get things done (in a distributed organization, in time with demanding deadlines)
Complex project management with the ability to multi-task and drive advanced strategic analysis (beyond data) and leverage results for impact
Providing hands-on support to multiple activities, often requiring strong consulting skills (slide writing, effective communication, some analytics…)
Collaborating and communicating with various teams and individuals, with different level of seniority in different geographies and with different backgrounds; be able to communicate with senior leaders and be a connection point for the community
Managing ambiguity with a high level of comfort
Self-starting with a strong work ethic, entrepreneurial drive to work autonomously and in a multinational team
Developing and enhancing people initiatives – including managing people networks and supporting the success of consultants with BCG U affiliation
Preparing leadership meetings with efficient communications before, at, and post the meeting

Leading others (team members and senior business leaders) in clarifying problems and developing solutions by building cross-PA partnerships - building consensus, persuading and influencing.

12-15 years of relevant experience
Master’s degree preferred
Consulting experience a strong plus
Ability to manage and drive area of accountabilities, contributing to higher level agenda setting
Ability to lead more complex, broader sub functional teams or projects fully independently and provide direction to others
Ability to resolve complex issues and non-defined problems autonomously, with full business acumen
Strong interpersonal skills, credibility
Ability to influence senior members of the PA and beyond
Ability to respect sensitive client, BCG, and people related information as personal and confidential
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Advanced knowledge in Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel
