Summary: The Student Support Specialist will support both students and faculty in the handling of all disciplinary issues in the School. The Student Support Specialist is responsible for conducting investigations of students behavioral issues and/or infractions of school policy and thereafter, facilitates parent and teacher meetings relating to the dispensing of disciplinary actions to students. The Student Support Specialist will act as a mentor and advisor to all students to ensure that students are knowledgeable of and incorporate the core values in their daily interactions with their teachers and fellow students. The Student Support Specialist will ensure that teaching and learning has a major role in the disciplinary process. Major Responsibilities:The Student Support Specialist:Responds to discipline concerns in a fair, equitable, and consistent manner, Conducts investigations concerning student discipline in accordance with the Renaissances Code of Conduct,Contacts parents regarding discipline concerns in a timely manner,Supports teachers regarding discipline concerns by offering creative ways to address the behavioral needs of students,Maintains an organized system for tracking student incidents,Works collaboratively with the school director to help maintain a safe and orderly school atmosphere,Meets administrative timelines with respect to handling investigations, student behavior, parent concerns/questions,Promotes positive relationships among students and provides strategies for resolving peer conflicts,Fosters teamwork between Student Support Specialists for the purpose of sharing and/or collaborating on issues and concerns that affect the entire Renaissance community.Communicates effectively with parents and colleagues,Exercises sound judgment in the performance of school responsibilitiesCommunicates critical and/or sensitive information in a timely and efficient manner to School Directors, and Director of School Safety & Security.Seeks out and utilizes appropriate resources that will assist and enhance ability to effectively carry out professional responsibilitiesPerforms administrative duties (arrival duty, dismissal duty, lunch duty and parent nights)Maintains regular attendance and punctualityAdditional duties may be assigned without additional compensation or stipendQualifications and Requirements:Bachelors DegreeThe Student Support Specialist must be knowledgeable of Renaissances student policies and procedures and be willing to make changes in assignments, duties and schedules. He/she must work well with peers, support teamwork, and actively engage in leadership activities. The Student Support Specialist must be able to communicate effectively with parents and guardians, be punctual for school appointments and meetings, as well as attend promptly to office and parent communications.Excellent organizational skills.
