About the role:The Designer I will be based in the Arden Hills location. He/she/they will be responsible for modeling/ designing components for new and existing medical device products (e.g. assemblies/equipment/fixtures/programmers/leads/stents) into detailed drawings and documentation using CAD and other tools. Responsible for electrical schematics and writing PLC programs for small machine designs.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Works closely with requestors and engineers on concepts using current tool analysis techniques, and technologies through the use of parametric CAD software and other mechanisms with little supervision.
- Perform Mechanical design/redesign of medical device products applying industry standards (e.g. ASME Y14.5M-2009) to detail drawings and submit drawings to departmental supervisor for approval.
- Maintains documentation using CAD tools that are tied to a data management system.
- Support for OEM device documentation and Bill of Material structure support.
- Completes document packages by detailing parts and creating BOM and schematics following layouts, sketches, and verbal instructions to ensure that all of the needed documentation is available for the manufacturing process with little or no supervision.
- Reviews and verifies the design work of peers to check for compliance with standards and corporate procedures.
- May provide illustrations, animation, and web publishing solutions that allow communication of 2D/3D product information for interactive assembly, maintenance/ restoration of documentation, product presentations, and Federal and International compliance.
- Capable of computing angles, weights, surface area, dimensions, radii, clearances, and tolerance stack-ups.
- Checks own work for accuracy and completeness.
- Estimate time to complete tasks, and informs when tasks will exceed the estimate.
- Read and interpret various technical, operating, and process documents. Be able to work from sketches and mark-up prints.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2-year Associates Degree
- Minimum of less than one year of related experience
- Experience using Solidworks
- Experience with pneumatics, silicone molding, and 3D printing
- Ability to create electrical schematics and write PLC programs for small machines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- CSWP certification in Solidworks
- Experience with pneumatics in machine design
- Strong background using geometric tolerancing
- Experience with large assembly design using sub-assemblies and blue-prints to manufacture parts for those assemblies using proper tolerancing and ordinate dimensioning
- Solid background in materials, and coatings for machine design
- Eagerness to learn and grow with our current staff and be a team player to help us reach our companies goals
