Position Summary
Our Barbacks are a key part of our team, and critical to providing genuine hospitality. They are energetic, excited to grow in the hospitality industry and care about their team. The Bar Back supports the bartender to help ensure all details of service are performed properly and every guest receives the highest quality of service. We are looking for individuals that are energetic, driven and excited to grow in the service industry and committed to providing quality service in a fun and casual bar environment.
Primary Responsibilities and Requirements
Essential Functions:
- Maintain the physical atmosphere and cleanliness of the bar. This includes requisitioning and stocking of all beer, wine, spirits, paper products, straws, stirrers, and condiments.
- Responsible for maintaining stock, cutting and sorting of all fresh fruit and vegetable garnishes, juices and perishables daily to insure product quality
- Greet all guests in a courteous manner to ensure their complete satisfaction. Always strive to exceed our guests’ expectations
- Retrieve orders from storeroom, visually check stock and reconcile with written requisitions to ensure order accuracy and re-check stock upon delivery
- Prepare the bar by cutting, slicing and peeling perishable garnishes and fruits, mixing and pouring juices and storing back-up supplies in prescribed containers
- Check with and assist the bartender to stock and maintain the bar to include, but not limited to, paper products, straws and stirrers, condiments, glassware, ice and produce
- Transport taps and replace and perform routine maintenance on beer kegs
- Maintain cleanliness of bar area, beer lockers, refrigerators and storage areas in accordance with federal, state, local and company codes
- Staying updated on current menu choices, specialties and menu deviations
- Provide assistant to Open and Close the bar by setting up and breaking down the bar and service stations
- Provide information to guests including menu descriptions, hotel information, and city surroundings
- Maintain acceptable standards of personal hygiene and uniform standards.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Minimum of 1-year experience in the hospitality industry
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced work environment
- Good judgment skills and adaptive attitude
- Ability to work both closing and opening shifts. (We open at 11 am and close at 2 am)
- Must have all required food / alcohol certifications as designated by location.

Work Environment/ Physical Demand:
- Must be able to stand for full shift
- Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds
- Must have good hearing for accurate communication with guests.
- Must be able to use hands and fingers to handle and feel objects, tools controls and type
- Must be able to work in areas of loud noises.
- Required to frequently reach, bend, stoop, and carry
- Must be able to work in both warm and cool environments; indoors and outdoors
- Must be able to tolerate potential exposure to allergens: peanut products, egg, dairy, gluten, soy, seafood and shellfish
- Long periods of standing and walking to different parts of the restaurant at different levels.
- Fast paced hands on position.
- Dining facilities are both outside and inside.
- Lighting is maintained at a low level.
