Boulder County Community Services Department (CSD) is seeking to hire a Jail Education Transition (JET) Coordinator. The JET Coordinator provides direct services to criminal justice clients in the Boulder County Jail. The position includes assessment, case planning, case management, service linkage, supportive group facilitation (willing to train if needed), as well as community work. Additionally, the position partners with Community Justice Services programs, Boulder County Sheriff in the jail, and community partners. This is a full-time, benefited position.This position will work Monday - Friday8:00am - 4:30pm. This position will work 25% remotely and out of 3200 Airport Road Boulder, Colorado. The possibility of a 4-10 schedule may be available after training, dependent on client and business needs. Under Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) guidelines, this position is exempt.
Boulder County requires its employees to reside in the state of Colorado as of the first day of work.
New employees receive an 80-hour bank of vacation at the time of hire, in addition to 8 hours of both vacation and medical leave accruals each month. Boulder County offers bountiful benefits, including pension contributions.

Provide direct service to JET clients including:
Completing screens, intake, and assessments to meet client needs
Group facilitation and psycho educational classes that address the client’s needs
Providing one on one support such as case management or coaching
Provide support to clients in crisis (we will provide training if needed)
Create and maintain case notes on clients served by tracking of client progress
Accuracy of data entry in a timely manner is essential
Provide service linkage to clients as needed:
Assist clients in identifying services to meet their needs inside the jail and community
Work collaboratively with client to create a successful reentry plan
Ensure clients connect with service providers (while in custody and in the community) to help overcome obstacles to access resources
Communicate with service providers to ensure coordinated care
Participate on staffing teams to serve the client’s best interest:
Acts in a support role regarding interventions with criminal justice/behavioral health population including criminogenic needs, substance use disorder, and mental health needs
Collaborate with the Jail Operations staff and other service providers to maintain a safe environment in the jail
Assist with general program operation:
Schedule classes and groups for clients
Assist volunteers and program guests in accessing the jail and their clients
Screening of information on clients to assess program fit
Assist with stocking classrooms and program office with needed supplies
May supervise interns and volunteers
Any other work duties as assigned by supervisor or manager
Performs related work, as required
May be reassigned during emergency situations

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Boulder County is looking for well qualified candidates to fill our positions. Any combination of relevant education and experience is encouraged. In this position, we are looking for a minimum of 6 years of combined education and experience in Criminal Justice, Substance Abuse, Behavioral Health, Mental Health or related field. Additional related education, internships, volunteer experience may count towards required experience.
BACKGROUND CHECK & FINGERPRINTING:

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bilingual in Spanish and English.
Lived experience in the criminal justice/behavioral health field.
Work experience in in a direct service capacity.
Counseling using evidenced based practices in a plus but not required.
Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor Certification by Colorado Alcohol and Drug Abuse Division (ADAD) preferred but not required.
Certified Addiction Counselor (CAC) from the CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) preferred but not required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
Interviewing and case management skills
Ability to work directly with at-risk and disadvantaged populations including those potentially in crisis
Ability to work effectively with other employees, clients, agencies and the public
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Frequently walks, bends, crouches and sits or stands for extended periods of time; by position, operates large vehicles daily and/or conducts home visits, occasionally required to physically pursue, restrain and control minors housed in the Juvenile Center; pushing/pulling meal cart, occasional lifting and carrying; frequent hand/eye coordination to operate computer keyboard and office equipment; vision for reading, recording and interpreting information; speech communication and hearing to maintain communication with employees and members of the public.
