Veterinary Technician - Surgery

Each department works collaboratively with other services within BBVSH, as well as accepting referrals and emergencies from other specialty and general practices.

Our hospital hours are Monday - Friday with holidays and weekends OFF!

Responsibilities

• General patient nursing care
• IV catheter placement, constant rate infusions
• General anesthesia for surgical and emergency procedures including CRIs and TIVA
• Multi-modal pain control including epidurals, femoral nerve blocks and local blocks
• Radiographs, CT
• Administer medication prescribed by Veterinarians
• Observe animal behavior or health condition and report to the Vet
• Handle administrative duties such as counseling pet owners about surgical procedures
• Keep accurate records and logs

Skills

• Licensed Veterinary Technician
• Anesthesia skills mandatory
• Experience in a specialty or emergency hospital is a plus
• Excellent communication skills
• Patient and caring personality
• Ability to work with a collaborative team of specialists
• Comfortable working in a busy environment
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (e.g. lift up to 40 lbs)
