A family-owned and operated construction company in Naples, FL is searching for an experienced Controller to join their team! In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing all financial operations, including payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general ledger management, while leading a small accounting to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting and compliance. The company is looking for a skilled professional with at least 10 years of experience who is seeking a stable career with a company known for its long-term retention and flexible, supportive work environment. Salary Range: $110, 000 - $140, 000 / year DOE
Controller Requirements:
- 10 years of accounting experience
- Bachelor s Degree in Accounting or related field
- Proficiency in Excel and Word
- Experience in a similar role (e.G., CFO, Controller, Accounting Manager)
- Experience in the construction industry is preferred
- Experience with certified payroll is preferred
- Supervisory experience is preferred
- Familiarity with Spectrum or other full ledger accounting software is preferred
- Master's Degree in a relevant field is preferred
Controller Responsibilities:
- Oversee payroll processing, ensuring timely execution of weekly payroll, including some certified payroll and management of 1099s for subcontractors
- Manage accounts receivable and payable, including transitioning to ACH for most transactions and handling bi-monthly payments to suppliers like Home Depot
- Administer employee benefits, handle annual renewals for medical insurance, and manage 401(k) contributions
- Supervise the accounting department staff, including a part-time accounting assistant and an office manager, and coordinate with an external tax firm
- Support the President in financial reporting and strategic planning, including end-of-year financial closures
