Position Description

Position Title: Marketing Coordinator

Department: Administration

Classification: Full-Time

Status: Non-Exempt (Hourly)

Supervisor: Marketing Director

Location: Chamber Headquarters

Position Reports To: Marketing Director

Position Supervises: N/A

Position Purpose:

Under minimal supervision assists both the economic development and partnership team members with projects to include writing, graphic design, creating marketing materials, and assisting at related events.

Essential Functions and Basic Duties:

  • Assist with development of marketing materials for chamber events, special events, prospect visits, community tours, etc. to ensure event standards and brand application.
  • Monitor and update websites (bgchamber.com, southcentralky.com, and SCKLAUNCH.com) and communicate with team members so that it is always current and propose improvements to implement.
  • Design and update partnership recruitment and retention packets, case studies, testimonials, and various marketing materials at 5-star Chamber quality.
  • Newsletters design development, including monthly partnership newsletter design and quarterly economic development newsletter, achieving the purpose of the newsletter’s function and a valuable resource to our partners.
  • Responsible for email marketing design and content as requested, creating and managing email campaigns upon request.
  • Social media campaigns development, regular social media content posting (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter).
  • Compile and design the Chamber’s Annual Report and Action Plan.
  • Assist in the development of ad hoc marketing pieces including slicks, email templates, and power point presentations, as needed.
  • Assist the team in prep and design Chamber of the Year submissions (functioning as the admin lead for the effort starting early)

Qualifications:

Training and Experience:

·Bachelor’s degree required, plus three (3) to five (5) years experience preferred.

Special Requirement(s):

·Possession of a valid driver’s license.

·Ability to be bonded.

Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

·Proficient in various software including but not limited to: Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, website design software.

·Excellent organizational and administrative skills to manage multiple projects.

·Excellent communications and writing skills.

·Ability to work with and meet deadlines.

· Ability to maintain the confidentiality of any information encountered.

·Requires strong analytical skills.

· Ability to make judgments serving the organization’s best interest.

Physical Activities and Requirements of the Position:

Finger Dexterity: Using fingers to make small movements such as typing, picking up small objects, or pinching fingers together.

Talking: Must frequently convey detailed or important information, instructions, or ideas accurately, easily audible, and quickly.

Average hearing: Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.

Repetitive Motions: Movements frequently and regularly require using the wrists, hand, and/or fingers.

Average Visual Abilities: Average, ordinary, visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or products or operate machinery.

Physical Strength: Combination of sitting, standing and moving around the office and the community at large. Ability to move objects weighing up to 50 lbs.

Working Conditions: Work performed in an office environment which can be moderately noisy. Many days involve sitting for long periods of time at a desk or workstation. Regular and prolonged work looking at a computer screen. Frequent travel within local area and occasional national and international travel possible. Work can be stressful and pressured by deadlines. Work week may exceed 40 hours.

Mental Activities and Requirements of the Position:

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed instructions and to deal with problem involving variables.

Mathematics Ability: Ability to perform basic math skills including adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing two-digit numbers; to perform complex mathematical calculations; to perform the four basic arithmetic operations with money; to perform operations involving allocations.

Language Ability: Ability of average to above-average vocabulary and to read at an average rate; define unfamiliar words in dictionaries and other references and resources for meaning, spelling, and pronunciation. Ability to write complex sentences, using proper punctuation, and use of adjective and adverbs. Ability to communicate in complex sentences; using normal word order with present and past tenses; using a good vocabulary.
