Cook Assistant
Reporting Relationship: Dietary Manager
General Summary of Responsibilities: The cook's assistant helps with preparation and service of high quality meals for patients, meals-on-wheels, cafeteria and catering. The cook's assistant also performs clerical duties necessary to the operation of the food service department and oversees the day-to-day operation of the cafeteria. The cook is responsible to prepare and serve high quality food consistent with prepared menus. Meals prepared are for patients, including those on therapeutic diets, cafeteria, meals on wheels and special caterings. The cook must assure food safety through continuous monitoring and documentation of critical control points. All members of the food service team must serve as a positive representative of Box Butte General Hospital and the food service department. Must be able to work shifts during the day, evenings, rotating weekends, and holidays.
Personal Skills: Ability to calculate measurements in recipes to increase or decrease servings. Neat, well-groomed, personable individual who enjoys working with the public. Must be able to work independently and as part of a team. Must complete work in a timely and professional manner. The employee must be highly proficient in multitasking with schedules and reaching multiple deadlines for the patient care, cafeteria, meals on wheels, vending, caterings, cleaning schedules, and special functions.
Education: Must have high school diploma or equivalent
Experience: Some food service experience.
Conditional: Must complete Prep Safe Certification with 90 days of hire.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS:
Preferred: Encouraged to complete dietary certificate program
Upon hire must provide copy of Immunization Record and disclose your current influenza immunization
