Certified Hemodialysis Technician

Title: Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT) -

Reporting Relationship: Dialysis Nurse Manager

General Summary of Responsibilities:

The CCHT strives for quality outcomes and innovative practice in accordance with the Dialysis Unit and BBGH policies. The CCHT provides care in a collaborative manner with other disciplines to ensure optimal, individualized patient care and outcomes.

CCHT practice includes the assumption of responsibility and accountability for the performance of acts within their educational background and utilizing procedures leading to predictable outcomes. Maintaining the dialysis equipment to ensure optimal efficiency, operating the dialysis machines, monitoring patients undergoing dialysis. Documenting observation reports for doctor's review and undertaking venipuncture of the hemodialysis access.

All aspects of the CCHTs performance support service excellence and a healing environment. The CCHT identifies and communicates needed unit resources or equipment to be included in budgets. The CCHT performs the prescribed duties independently following established policies & procedures in a safe and efficient manner.

The CCHT is responsible to and works under the direction of the Charge Nurse.

Experience: preferred Six months recent acute experience or Certified Hemodialysis Technician experience

License/Certifications:
Conditional -- Certificate from an accredited program for Hemodialysis Technician within 18 months of hire.

BLS for healthcare workers and maintains licensure and appropriate certification(s)

I must be able to work shifts during the day, weekends, and holidays.
