The Grant Writer is responsible for supporting the Director, Grants & Continuous Improvement in securing and managing a $2M grants program (government, foundation, corporation) for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford, including research, writing proposals, reporting, funder communications, maintaining grant records, and managing grants calendar to generate new grant-funding sources and revenues for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford. 


Key Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a grant pipeline by researching new local foundations and corporate partners.
  • Provide local statistics to support our statement of need for each program pillar.
  • Analyze program data to capture our impact (Assessments, pre- & post-tests, NYOI, demographics, etc.).
  • Coordinate the grant process by working with internal and external stakeholders to solicit, gather and assemble materials (budgets, graphics, program outcomes, etc.) and submit grants and reports on time and in an organized manner.
  • Identify and monitor prospective federal, state, and other public and private contracts and grant opportunities that may be a source of funding.
  • Maintain grantmaking information in database and other systems as directed.
  • Accurately input and process grant information into database or other systems as directed.
  • Participate team meetings and professional development opportunities to stay up-to-date on developments in the field and compliance requirements.
  • Perform other related work as required.

Expected Hours of Work

This position is full-time and will work 40 hours per week, core hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday-Friday.

Requirements

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills;
  • Proven attention to detail;
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects and work independently, as well as with others, in a collaborative, often fast-paced, team environment;
  • Excellent customer service skills with emphasis on respectful and tactful communications;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Strong information technology skills, including proven advanced experience with Microsoft Office and database programs;

Salary : $60,000 - $70,000
