YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PROFESSIONAL
TITLE: Program Staff
PERFORMANCE
PROFILE SOURCE: Youth Development Professional
DEPARTMENT: Programs
REPORTS TO: Unit Director

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Plans, implements, supervises and evaluates activities provided in within a specific program area, such as Education, Fitness, Social Recreation, and Character & Leadership Development.
KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):
Prepare Youth for Success
1. Create an environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development Outcomes:
_ promote and stimulate program participation;
_ provide guidance and role modeling to members.
Program Development and Implementation
2. Effectively implement and administer programs, services and activities for members and visitors.
3. Monitor and evaluate programs, services and activities to ensure safety of members, quality programs and appearance of the branch at all times. Prepare periodic activity reports.
Supervision
4. Ensure a productive work environment by participating in daily debriefings meetings.
RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal: Maintains close, daily contact with Club staff (professional and volunteer), Club members, and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines/instructions; instruct; and advise/counsel.
External: Maintains contact with external community groups, schools, members' parents and others to assist in resolving problems.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
- Sets up & arrange supplies for daily activities prior members arrival.
- Plan and facilitate activities in specified program areas (ie STEM, art, athletics, social emotional learning)
- Uphold organizational behavior expectations
- Prepare bulletin boards displaying special events & weekly schedules.
- Assist members with homework
- Keep track of members’ attendance for activities in your department area
- Create weekly program schedules.
- Participate in special events and/or programs.
- Other duties as assigned.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
- Completed two years of College (48 semester units or 72 quarter units)/ or paraprofessional test
- Experience in working with children.
- Knowledge of youth development.
- Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems.
- Ability to plan and implement quality programs for youth.
- Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment.
- Valid State Driver’s License/CA Identification & Social Security Card
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
High energy level, comfortable performing multi-faceted projects; superior interpersonal abilities-able to interact effectively with co-workers of all levels as well as with representation of other organizations and institutions. Ability to get along with diverse personalities; tact, maturity, and flexibility; physical requirements include: sight, hearing, sitting, standing, stooping and lifting a minimum of 25 lbs.

Pay: $15.50 - $16.50 per hour
