Youth Development Professional - Part Time

Boys & Girls Club of Hilton Head Island – Hilton Head Island, SC

The Boys & Girls Club of Hilton Head Island, a 501(c)3 nonprofit, has openings for part-time youth development professionals. Youth Development Professionals are responsible for providing engaging programming to youths aged 6-18. This is a part-time position during the summer. We are open Monday through Friday, 7:30am-6:00pm. We have multiple shifts available throughout the day.

Responsibilities
· Promotes and stimulates program participation among members

· Supervise Club spaces to ensure the safety of all members. Spaces may include gymnasium, games room, art room, computer lab, STEM lab, learning center, and/or outdoor recreation areas.

· Identify, address, and set consequences for negative behaviors of members.

· Plan and put on enriching and educational activities and games in a variety of Club spaces.

· Engage members in a positive manner while supervising, putting on programs, and running activities.

· Provide a mentoring relationship with members who need it.

· Assist in planning Club events, theme days, and other related special events/days.

· Assist in set-up and clean-up of Club spaces.

· Assist in other tasks that may come up on a day-to-day basis

· May be required to participate in certain club-wide events

· May be required to drive Club van or other Club vehicle

· Works effectively with supervisor, other staff, members, parents, and community leaders and organizations to provide exemplary services to youth

Qualifications

· High school diploma required

· College graduate or matriculating college students preferred

· Minimum of one year experience working with children in a group setting preferred

· Camp counselor experience a plus

· Enthusiasm and patience working with children and passion about education, health, character development and leadership

· Must be a team player and a self-starter

· Ability to work well with diverse populations

· A high degree of independence, flexibility, self-motivation, and creativity

· Mandatory CPR and First Aid Certifications (may be obtained after employment)

· Ability to organize and supervise youth in a safe environment

· Bi-lingual a plus (English/Spanish)

Must pass background check and drug screening

Must possess valid driver’s license and be in good standing with the Division of Motor Vehicle

Job Type: Part-time

Salary: $16.00 - $17.00 per hour
