Prevention Coordinator

PRIMARY FUNCTION:  Oversee as well as facilitate in the delivery of  prevention programs and activities with all ages 5-18 encompassing the Formula For Impact priority outcomes of academic success, good character and citizenship, and healthy lifestyles as well as assuming recruitment responsibilities for the prevention programs.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Plan and oversee the administration of designated Prevention programs and activities supporting the Formula For Impact priority outcomes. Specifically but not limited to OJJDP Mentoring and The Missouri Alliance Prevention Programs.

• Implement Positive Action Curriculum in all four Club locations (Reeds Spring, Crane, Branson and Forsyth) for each grade level – Pre-K through High School Grade 12
• Responsible for coordinating use of facility for all members; i.e. classroom, gym use, outdoor use, etc.
• Responsible for going to schools for games and other recreational settings for recruitment of new members

• Continually evaluate Prevention programs, reporting results to the Director of Operations according to established deadlines and addressing gender or cultural needs of members
• Collect data and prepare regular reports as needed for programs, funding sources and other projects i.e. Meth Smarts, Smart Moves, Smart Girls, Passport to Manhood, OJJDP Mentoring
• Oversee proper documentation and record keeping including daily attendance, program participation, achievement, problems/issues, etc.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• May participate in special programs and/or events.
• May be required to meet and/or communicate directly with classroom teachers regarding member needs/accomplishments.
• Maintain high standard of customer service in dealing with members, parents, volunteers, other staff members and the general public.
• Assume other duties as assigned.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

• Four year degree in related field from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience.
• A minimum of three year working in a Boys & Girls Club or similar organizations planning and supervising activities. 
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
• Ability to recruit, train, manage and motivate staff.
• Working knowledge of budget preparation, control and management.
• CPR and First Aid certification.
• Valid Missouri State Drivers License.
• May be required to drive Club van and/or bus.  (Club may provide the cost for acquiring a Class E, CDL or other specialized operator’s license as required).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Must be able to stand or walk for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to squat or bend to communicate at youths’ level.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and carry up to 10 pounds for short periods of time.
• Must be able to participate in physical activities throughout the facility, on the property and/or on field trips.
