Title: Development Associate 

Work Schedule: Full time, non-exempt; generally scheduled between 9am-6pm, Monday-Friday, working some evening and weekend hours as needed 

Reports to: Director of Special Events

Department: Development

Primary Function: 

The Development Associate provides administrative support to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Monterey County’s fundraising team who work collaboratively to ensure sustained growth and income that covers the organization’s annual operating budget. S/he will ensure that best practice administrative processes operate efficiently. S/he support includes, but is not limited to: stewardship, campaigns, corporate & foundation, marketing, communications, grants, and events. 

Key Areas of Responsibility: 

1. Communication Support 

a. In collaboration with the Director of Marketing & Communications, craft communication copy material including, but not limited to: press releases, publications, social media, newsletters, grants, etc. 

b. Create compelling narratives and content to be utilized across platforms and audiences c. Proofread content to ensure high-quality writing and consistent messaging 

2. Special Event Support 

a. Help organize and support all special events 

b. Inventory, categorize and organize all event related supplies and materials. 

c. Create tracking files and binders related to all events which capture historical information 

d. Provide administrative support, assisting the Data & Stewardship Coordinator, as needed, with event record keeping 

3. Campaign and Stewardship Support 

a. Assists with mailings 

b. Support donor stewardship efforts including, but not limited to: acknowledgements, maintaining printed material inventory, preparing materials for meetings, etc. 

c. Assist with other campaign and stewardship tasks, as assigned 

4. Corporate & Foundation Partner Support 

a. Support the grants management process through prospecting, forecasting, grant profiles, submission of requests and reporting 

b. Utilize appropriate data processing and filing method for key departmental tasks such as in kind requests, award letter entry and grant agreements 

c. Assist with the submission of sponsorship proposals including materials, phone calls and schedule meetings 

d. Maintain knowledge of current trends in philanthropic and institutional giving and issues impacting the local and regional business community 

e. Support presentations to organizations with the ability to enhance advocacy, giving, in-kind and volunteering for BGCMC

f. Assist with the communication and media for partner recognition through BGCMC’s website, newsletter, and social media outlets 

g. Under the direction of the Data & Stewardship Coordinator, provide data entry support using BGCMC’s platform Customer Relationship Management system (CRM) for grants, In-kind gifts, moves management, communications, and other data entry needs as assigned (Corporation & Foundations only) 

h. Update records, maintaining accuracy and ensuring contact information is current for all partnering organizations 

5. Development Support 

a. Provides back up support and submits daily income reports to designated staff as needed 

b. Answers phone calls for department and re-routes accordingly 

6. Special Projects Assigned by CEO, CFO & COO, as requested

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Associates Degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience, preferably in nonprofit, administration, marketing, fundraising or related disciplines 
  • A minimum of 1 year of related work experience 
  • Demonstration of strong project management and organizational skills with attention to detail 
  • Strong communication skills and professional personal presentation 
  • Ability to work independently or in collaboration with others 
  • Proficiency in GSuite, including: Gmail, Google Docs, Google Sheets Highly Desirable Qualifications: 
  • Oral and written fluency in Spanish 
  • Experience in the Boys & Girls Clubs Movement Additional Requirements:
  • MUST present proof of COVID-19 vaccination  (if eligible for medical exemption, please communicate directly with BGCMC’s Human Resources team) prior to the start date

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position including sitting or standing for up to  eight (4) hour periods
  • Ability to frequently lift, carry and position objects weighing up to 25 pounds when moving office supplies
  • Frequent standing and bending
  • Regularly moves about the facility during a typical day

Compensation: Starting at $24.00 per hour and depends on qualifications. Paid benefits package including accrual of up to 80 hours per year of paid vacation, 56 hours per year of paid sick leave, health insurance, Medical, Vision, Dental, Pension and 403(b) Plan Investment Options. Professional development opportunities are available contingent upon funding and approval.
