Aquatics Director- Camp Lovejoy

Camp Lovejoy, which is a Boys & Girls Clubs of Schenectady summer day camp program, is looking for an Aquatics Director to oversee the waterfront program. We are seeking individuals who are motivated, passionate, enthusiastic, and enjoy working with children.

Camp Lovejoy is located in the beautiful Helderberg Mountains, in Altamont, NY.

The camp runs from July 1st-August 16th. There will be paid mandatory training prior to camp that all personnel must attend. Weekly schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:00pm.

The Aquatics Director is responsible for overseeing and implementing swim program and pool area in accordance with the public health codes. This includes:

· Carry out the policies and procedures as outlined in the camp manual.

· Checking and maintaining appropriate chemical levels of the pool.

· Maintain a safe, clean pool deck and locker room.

· Supervise a team of lifeguards and directing personnel on the waterfront.

· Responsible for records/paperwork for Department of Health and Camp Lovejoy.

· Oversee aquatics program including swim instruction, water safety, open swim, and special events.

· Evaluate program and swimming abilities of campers.

· Create and implement lesson plans that address the needs of all swimmers at camp.

· Distribute certificates to the campers in recognition of progress.

· Assist in closure of pool at the end of the camp season.

Qualifications:

· Must be at least 21 years of age

· Physically able

· Current lifeguard certification,

· Current C.P.R. First Aid and AED

· Progressive Swimming Instructor- Water Safety Instructor (WSI)

· Lifeguard Management or Lifeguard instructor certification.
