Job Summary
The position will support, coordinate and implement teen programs and support the Teen Program Managers, Directors and Coordinators in: planning, promoting, coordinating and implementing teen programming. The Teen Coordinator will also support and implement mentoring programs, workforce development and social-emotional learning programs, in addition to supporting recruitment efforts.

Responsibilities
Coordinates a broad range of programs for teens, such as, educational, physical fitness, social, recreational, and arts & crafts; provides broad oversight of program activities at BGCWPA’s Clubhouses and program sites; based on overall plan for teen and mentoring programming across the agency -- plans, develops, oversees implementation and supervises programs, and performs related administrative duties. Emphasis placed on Boys & Girls Club of America’s priority outcomes of Academic Success, Good Character and Citizenship, and Healthy Lifestyles. Experience implementing the five key elements for positive youth development: a safe, positive environment, fun, supportive relationships, opportunities and expectations, recognition in addition to high-yield learning activities, targeted programs and regular attendance is a must.  Recruitment efforts are also an essential part of the role.
 
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of youth program development;
  • Support recruitment efforts to increase teen enrollment;
  • Ability to take initiative to design and elevate programs;
  • Ability to prepare accurate and complete statistical reports representing the activity and progress of programs;
  • Ability to plan, organize, coordinate, and implement special events and fundraisers to support teen programs;
  • Ability to respond to and attempt to resolve conflicts that may arise among the members and/or staff in a calm and professional manner;
  • Ability to build and maintain positive and professional relationships with youth and their families as well as community leaders participating in the programs;
  • Ability to use restorative practices and a trauma informed approach to engage teens;
  • Demonstrated ability in working with young people, families and community leaders.

Requirements
  • Minimum of 2 years of training in social services, education or a related field and a minimum of 1 year work experience in a Boys & Girls Club or similar organization supporting the needs of youth;
  • High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s Degree and teaching certification or closely related field preferred; Education, Social Work, K-12, human performance enhancement, human services or related field
  • Knowledge of positive youth development with an ability to design learning strategies and programs to enhance knowledge, skills, and abilities for youth
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of mental health care services, trauma informed care, and referral resources.
  • Excellent crisis intervention, interpersonal, conflict mediation, and communication skills.
  • Strong time management, organization, and project prioritization skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, staff, and outside agencies
  • Advanced positive customer service skills needed.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • 3 letters of Reference needed upon hiring
  • Clearances Act 33, Act 34, Act 151 and NSOR letter.
  • Mandated Reporter Certification within 30 days of hire
  • Attend CPR, Pediatric First Aid training.
  • Strong time management, organization, and project prioritization skills are a must
  • Proficient in Google Suite.
  • The usual and customary methods of performing the jobs function require the following physical demands: lifting & carrying up to 50 pounds, pushing, any/or pulling, climbing to include steps, balancing, stooping, standing, sitting, kneeling, crawling, crouching, and signification fine fingered dexterity. Ability to tolerate environmental conditions: air conditioning, heat, dust fumes, noise, close quarters, etc.
  • Perform all additional duties and tasks assigned by leadership/supervisors.

Certifications and Clearances
BGCPWA’s highest priority is the safety of the youth we serve. CPR, Pediatric First Aid, Child Abuse Prevention, Criminal History, FBI Clearance, NSOR Certificate, PA Disclosure, PA Staff Health Assessment, TB Test, and Mandated Reporter certification required upon hire or within 6 months.
