What are the responsibilities and job description for the Research Intern position at Boys Town?

Works closely with a team of researchers and scientists to support ongoing projects and contribute to cutting-edge research initiatives.

SCHEDULE: Flexible Hours- Up to 19 hours per week.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

  • Conducts comprehensive literature reviews to gather relevant information and background for research projects.

  • Assists in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data using various research methodologies and tools.

  • Participates in experimental design, execution, and data interpretation under the guidance of senior researchers.

  • Maintains accurate records of experimental procedures, results, and observations. Prepare reports, presentations, and other documentation as needed.

  • Collaborates with team members to brainstorm ideas, troubleshoot problems, and contribute to the overall success of research projects.

  • Assists in maintaining a clean and organized research environment. Helps with equipment setup, calibration, and routine maintenance tasks.

  • Actively engages in learning opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills in relevant research areas. Attend seminars, workshops, and training sessions as appropriate.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong academic record with coursework in research methods, data analysis, and relevant scientific disciplines.

  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a collaborative research environment.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Currently enrolled in a high school with course work in a relevant field (e.g., biology, chemistry, physics, engineering, computer science, etc.) required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Prior research experience (e.g., lab work, internships, projects) preferred.
