About the Role:
As a new addition to our team, The Franchise Development Lead will lead development of Franchising within the bp / Amoco footprint with the intent to accelerate the growth of convenience in the Americas.
The role will own the development of the franchise offer “east of the Rockies” including franchise retail strategy, agreement development, franchise marketing programs, recruiting process, sales processes, relationship and ultimately the financial memorandum to fund the planned franchising growth. The role holder will work closely with the Senior Consultant – East Coast Convenience to bring the offer being rolled out on East Coast into a franchise model.
Key Responsibilities:
> Promote bp’s safety and compliance culture and expectations.
>Project origination – define and develop the franchise offer, i.e., royalty model, capital-lite, high standards, and operational simplicity.
> Franchise strategy – determine size, scope, and approach to growth opportunities. Focus on geographic opportunities, strategic partnerships, customer segmentation, and determine resources needed to grow retail operations at pace to increase overall convenience margin share resulting in implement FM development to support the planned growth.
> Franchise Systems - agreement development, marketing program development, recruiting process development all require established protocols, SOP’s, and KPI’s along with defined strategy and implementation plans.
> People -. Develop and support strong DE&I and Ethics and Compliance plans.
> Other bp integration - Build effective working relationships and lead the franchise collaboration with other functions. Work with Communication and Advocacy (C&A) to effectively advocate for beneficial franchise issues and on behalf of issues of importance to franchises more broadly while supporting bp Aims.
Role Requirements:
Education
> Bachelors degree in a related field preferred
Experience
> Significant and deep experience, working in a large (>500 stores) franchise system required
> Significant multi-unit retail operational experience, preferred in the convenience space, franchise and/or corporate
> A demonstrated ability to develop marketable, commercially-viable franchise or customer agreements, followed-on by marketing and selling said agreements
> Demonstrable experience administering agreements, maintaining records, ensuring follow-on time-sensitive maintenance of renewals, licenses, etc. Further, relationship management of franchisees or customers in terms of interpreting agreement elements, managing conflict, unbiased mediation of operations and issues with effective resolution, and effectively managing terminations and exits.
> Deep expertise in managing a profit and loss organisation, manages costs and is commercially rigorous in all business analysis and decisions
> Integrates technical and business issues; manage the assurance process, crafting a Safety Culture, environmentally sensitive
> Ability to streamline and simplify work processes and foresee issues quick resolution
> Managing business risks, ability to provide clear and strong leadership in crisis/emergency response situations
> Practice bp values and behaviours on top of meeting leadership expectations
