Bookkeeper

The Bookkeeper serves an instrumental role in implementing Bradley Angle’s day-to-day financial systems. This position manages a variety of financial and administrative tasks and reports to the Finance Director. The successful candidate will be well-experienced in nonprofit accounting, dedicated to Bradley Angle’s mission, and interested in a peaceful, healthy work environment. The Bookkeeper will play a critical role in partnering with the Finance Director in building and maintaining strong financial operations as Bradley Angle continues to enhance its quality programming and build capacity.
Status Full-time, non-exempt
Salary $20-22/hour, depending on experience

Supervisor Finance Director
Hours Business hours; flexible schedule; may include occasional evenings and weekends
Essential Duties:
Accounts Payable, Expenses, and Vendor Relations
- Coordinate organization’s A/P function, including 1099 preparation, and recordkeeping.
- Enter data into the accounting system (currently QuickBooks Online); allocate expenses across programs; work with the Finance Director to calculate and input journal entries to ensure compliance with nonprofit accrual accounting and in accordance with GAAP.
- Work with vendors to address and resolve issues arising from billing errors, etc.
- Track various utility bills that cover multiple locations to ensure that payments are not applied to an incorrect location.
- Enter and verify credit card expenditures for multiple employees.
- Develop and maintain expense receipts for auditing purposes.
- Collect, verify, and enter reimbursement requests from staff, primarily mileage reimbursements.
- Develop and maintain reimbursement forms, expense reports, credit card expense tracking forms, and other documents for staff use.
Program, Finance, and Administrative Support
- Coordinate monthly financial tasks for the rental assistance program.
- Ensure proper dating and coding of expenses to allow for accurate invoicing of government contracts and reporting for foundation grantors.
- Support Finance Director in regular reconciliation of program and development data with finance department data.
- Support Finance Director in reporting and financial statement preparation as needed.
- Maintain records of financial transactions, consistent across multiple platforms.
- Develop systems to support policies and procedures and to account for financial transactions.
- Maintain records by filing documents, both hard copies and electronic copies.
- Contribute to team effort for the success of Bradley Angle.
- Support administration of the IT systems including user permissions and password security.
- In conjunction with the Office Manager, provide support for uninterrupted service of technology, facilities, etc., and communicate with vendors who are contracted to support operations in this arena.
- Back up Office Manager in administering payroll system as needed.
- Maintain client data and financial information in a confidential manner.
Qualifications:
- Systematic and detail-oriented. Attention to consistency, accuracy, and detail.
- Ability to analyze information and deal with a complex set of requirements without being overwhelmed.
- Have an interest in nonprofit accounting principles and a curiosity about how these affect the day-to-day operations of an organization.
- Understanding of and experience with the QuickBooks Online accounting system (or similar) and understanding of Google Sheets and/or Microsoft Excel.
- Knowledge of or interest in nonprofit GAAP requirements and accrual accounting.
- Ability to prioritize and support the work of both internal and external stakeholders.
- Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and dedication to the mission of Bradley Angle, along with a calm professional demeanor.
- Previous bookkeeping experience is preferred, but not required for the right candidate.
- Solid data entry skills.
