Lock Technician

Rate of pay: $25.00 per hour

Position: Lock Technician; (Maintenance Supervisor – Lock Technician)

Facility: Bradshaw State Jail

Location: 3900 West Loop 571 North, Henderson, TX 75652

Work schedule: Full-time; Monday-Friday; Days

Position summary: Responsible for the duties involving general maintenance and repairs on equipment and building and assisting with technical trades such as plumbing, electrical, painting and carpentry functions in compliance with Management & Training Corporation (MTC) and Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) directives.

Essential responsibilities:

• Perform maintenance and repair of facility locks and doors, electronics and other related systems.
• Perform repair or replacement of locks, doors, keys, seals, etc.
• Assist wit the repair or replacement faulty or damaged light fixtures, outlets, and fuses as directed.
• Install window shades or coverings, security locks, etc.
• Help prepare surfaces for finishing, i.e., painting, as directed.
• Perform on-call support in emergency situations when equipment malfunctions.
• Follow all safety regulations to include the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for self as well as offenders assigned to the maintenance department.
• Maintain accountability of staff, offenders and property; adhere to safety practices

Education and experience requirements:

• Graduation from an accredited senior high school or equivalent or GED.
• Three years of full-time, wage-earning experience as a millwright, detention equipment technician, or in electronics. Courses completed in a maintenance or construction-related field from a trade or technical school accredited by CHEA or USDE may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis for a maximum substitution of two years.
• Experience in the supervision of offenders is preferred.
• A valid driver’s license in the state of Texas with an acceptable driving record is required, unless waived by management.
