Accounts Payable Specialist

Dynamic and fast-growing company is looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist to join our accounting department as a full-time, immediate hire. This individual will play a key role in maintaining accurate accounts payable records to ensure timely and accurate payment to all vendors. This includes compiling data, computing charges, and preparing invoices, as well as auditing, posting, and reconciling vendor accounts. The Account Payable Specialist is expected to process a large volume of work in a deadline driven environment with a 'roll up your sleeves' type attitude. They will play a role in the month-end and year-end financial close process, account analysis, bank reconciliations, account payable processing, ad hoc analysis, etc.

THE POSITION

Responsibilities of the Accounts Payable Specialist include:

• Enter and process purchase orders for vendors across multiple divisions
• Enter and process vendor invoices for payment
• Set up new vendors as needed
• Follow up on management approval for open purchase orders and expense reports
• Sort and scan bills received through mail on a daily basis
• Generate a clean AP Aging to review with management weekly
• Pay invoices by check, ACH or credit card
• Prepare and mail checks
• Apply and post vendor payments
• Coordinate and communicate with vendors
• Respond to information requests, reconcile vendor statements, and assist with payment inquiries
• Contribute to the month end close process by reconciling AP Aging to G/L

Qualified candidates for the AP Specialist role should have the following skills and experience:

• Previous experience in Accounts Payable, General Accounting, or related fields
• BA/BS degree from an accredited college/university in accounting, preferred
• Highly organized and detail-oriented
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Experience in data entry
• Ability to prioritize and multitask while working in a fast paced environment
• Experience using automated accounting software a plus
• Knowledge of standard accounting procedures
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel
