SUMMARY OF THE NURSE COORDINATOR POSITION:
The Nursing Coordinator has primary responsibility for medical and nursing care of clients served at the BCCS Milford Site and the future Georgetown Site. The Nursing Coordinator fulfills the responsibilities of this position primarily by guiding, monitoring and assisting medical and nursing staff in providing quality, sufficient and appropriate medical and nursing care for all BCCS clients served by this project. It is also the responsibility of the Nursing Coordinator to model and maintain high professional conduct and standards among all medical and nursing staff.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/TASKS:
1. Comply with all BCCS policies and procedures.
2. Provide direction to supervise and evaluate via day-to-day observation and annual staff performance reviews the Lancaster medical staff, including:
Nurses, Phlebotomists, Medical Assistants
3. Ensure medical and nursing staff comply with Federal and State regulations.
4. Ensure that medical and nursing staff follow agency policies and procedures.
5. Participate in BCCS subcommittees, committees, and meetings.
6. Participate in Methadone Review meetings.
7. Report progress or deficiencies in the Medical area to the Director of Nursing.
8. Make recommendations to the Director of Nursing concerning program planning and changes.
9. Provide regular reports and any specially requested reports to the designated administrative and fiscal personnel.
10. Review, at random and as required by licensing and accreditation standards, case records and take appropriate action when deficiencies are identified.
11. Assist Director of Nursing in preparing for audits and other licensing and accreditation reviews.
12. Administer methadone and other medications in accordance with the program.
13. Order methadone for Milford and Georgetown site
14. Order medical supplies for site.
15. Record and report, including in the computer, observations of symptoms, conditions, progress behavior and reaction of clients.
16. Assist physician during office visits and physicals.
17. Observe urine testing.
18. Document doctors appointments, transcribe physician orders and medication sheets, and enter into the computer.
19. Keep accurate records for all clients of identified non-socomal illnesses, operations, pregnancies, infectious diseases, STDs (including HIV), AIDS, deaths and other as indicated by accreditation.
20. Maintain appropriate written records.
21. Meet with Nurses individually once per month and as needed. Meet with other medical staff as needed.
22. Meet with Director of Nursing weekly and as needed.
23. Assist medical staff whenever necessary.
24. Resolve client/nurse conflicts.
25. Provide, when necessary and justified, work-related counseling, administer disciplinary action and address grievances of the medical staff according to BCCS policies and procedures.
26. Promote staff morale.
27. Performs any other duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing
QUALIFICATIONS:
1) Education and Certification: Currently a licensed registered or practical nurse in the State of Delaware.
2) Experience: 5 years in the Drug and Alcohol Chemical Dependency field
