Job Summary: Establishes and monitors a consistent daily group schedule on assigned inpatient units. Facilitates and co-facilitates groups on inpatient unit; collaborates with unit staff to maintain consistent group schedules; actively leads a variety of groups; consistently engages in feedback and self-evaluation of approach to improve skill-set; effectively pursues learning opportunities to ensure delivery of diverse group offerings.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Establishes consistent daily programming schedule and coordinates with unit staff, OTs, Social Workers, Interns, and Therapeutic Enrichment Specialists to ensure robust program offerings.
Anticipates and trouble shoots gaps in programming to maintain structured schedule.
Facilitates and co-facilitates groups on assigned unit/s.
Maintains focus on group schedule and facilitation during on-unit behavioral events to ensure a consistent therapeutic environment.
Collaborates with unit staff to ensure safety at all times.
Follows hospital policies, demonstrates knowledge of policies especially those concerning patient safety.
Processes group approaches with supervisor to continually improve skill-set and troubleshoot barriers to success while implementing supports to improvement.
Utilizes evidence-based practice, therapeutic use of self, and a client-centered approach to guide patient interactions.
Becomes familiar with next generation Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) approaches: Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT); able to incorporate language and theory of these models into group and milieu approach.
Meets the standards for documentation and communication to communicate necessary information about patients to all other disciplines. This includes Patient/Staff incident reports; Hazard/Near Miss reports completed within 24 hours of incident.
Demonstrates the ability to lead and maintain a therapeutic treatment milieu.
• Monitor the milieu, targets potential crisis situations and intervenes appropriately.
• Utilizes verbal de-escalation skills for crisis resolution
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree or 2 years directly related full time experience or 4 years indirectly related full time experience
• Evidence of strong communication skills across all skill levels
• Evidence of adaptability
• Evidence of ability to give and receive feedback in a productive manner that promotes continual growth
