Job Description
As a Risk Programs Leader, you are responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating risk. The Risk Programs Leader will oversee the team responsible for risk identification, assessment and mitigation.
- Identifying, measuring, controlling, and monitoring operational risk, and providing early warning of risk indicators.
- Through the implementation of risk reduction strategies or by insuring the organization against loss you will establish acceptable risk tolerance and quantify potential risks and seek to limit liability or exposure.
- Measuring risk and set operational risk management strategies and policies.
- Develop and oversee implementation of loss prevention strategies meant to protect the organization’s assets.
- Establishing policies and protocols to limit exposure due to internal process failure, human error, external events, information system threat, data integrity and fraud.
- Developing systems to control and monitor assets in terms of operational risk.
- Evaluating alternative means of reducing the firm’s exposure to financial loss, damage to the organization’s reputation and loss of business continuity.
- Ensuring compliance with risk related legislation.
- Establishing strategic plans; your strategic decisions are critical to functional performance.
- Your primary focus on high level operational execution for the function with contribution to broader organizational planning.
o Estimated 50% tactical and 50% strategic – erroneous decisions will result in decline of overall organization performance.
- Managing change and developing risk mitigation plans.
- Serve as an expert resource to internal and external constituencies.
- Using advanced logic to make highly complex judgments with a noticeable impact on functional results.
- Setting timelines, expectations and proactively negotiates within and outside of organization.
- Developing staff for current and long-term organizational opportunities.
- Interacting strategically with all levels of the organization and Board of Directors.
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field such as Business Administration/Management, Finance, or Quantitative Analysis.
- Minimum 15 years related experience including risk management and strategy in a financial services organization.
- Experience reporting to senior leadership and engaging with regulators and board members.
- Advanced Degree or Professional Certification (MBA, CPA, CIA or similar)
