Compliance Analyst

JOB SUMMARY
This is a mid-level administrative support position under the immediate supervision of the Manager of Compliance, and the general direction of the Senior Director of Customer Service and Compliance. This position provides specialized compliance and administrative work in homestead investigative activities. This includes determining property owner qualifications and verifying compliance for homestead exemptions, as well as other exemptions for ad valorem assessments.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Opens, creates, updates and maintains files for allegations requiring investigation.
• Conducts preliminary investigations which includes gathering evidence, reviewing property ownership, benefit records and documenting information from various sources.
• Researches properties that may be receiving unqualified tax benefits using various computer programs, techniques, methods and procedures to gather information.
• Creates, processes and tracks liens and lien correspondence on properties which have been determined to receive unqualified tax benefits.
• Maintains an active file of homesteaded properties with a mailing address other than the site address and military members for the annual preparation and mailing of questionnaires.
• Conducts analytical research, as necessary, for the BCPAO to present to the Value Adjustment Board.
• Performs any other related duties as required or assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK

• Associate degree in a closely related field.
• One (1) year of analytical experience or training, and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Background in investigative/analytical or government support activities utilizing public and private records and databases.
• Attain expertise in property appraiser lien and BCPAO functions related to Homestead Fraud within six (6) months.
• Valid Florida driver's license.
   

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the functions of this job, the employee is continuously required to stand, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk, or hear; frequently required to walk; and the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, continuously lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
