What are the responsibilities and job description for the Literacy Coach - Andrew Jackson Middle School position at Brevard Public Schools?
Andrew Jackson Middle School is seeking an experienced Literacy Coach to serve as a stable resource of professional development, progress monitoring, and student data analysis throughout a school to generate improvement in reading instruction and reading achievement for our middle school students.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree with certification in Reading, Middle Grades English, Integrated Curriculum, Secondary English, Varying Exceptionalities, or Specific Learning Disabilities is required
- Three (3) years of classroom experience required; five (5) years secondary experience is preferred
- English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) training within two (2) years of appointment
- Reading Certification required through Reading K-12 Endorsement or Coverage K-12,
OR
- Agreement to complete a minimum of two (2) reading competencies per year in Reading Endorsement Program in-service courses
OR
- Six semester hours of college courses in reading
- English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) training within two (2) years of appointment
- Valid State Driver’s License
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Five (5) years of secondary experience preferred
- Master’s Degree from an accredited educational institution preferred
Literacy Coach applicants must be in the District's Literacy Coach Pool by sending a letter of intent and resume to Debbie Wood in Elementary Leading & Learning at our District Office, plus three (3) letters or recommendation and three (3) recent summative evaluations.
Qualified Literacy Coaches must also create an online instructional BEACON application on the BPS website https://iss.brevard.k12.fl.us/AT000.pgm and apply for this position on our site.
Additionally, you may send a letter of intent and resume to Principal Tina Susin at Andrew Jackson Middle School, however, all the other steps must be completed in order to be considered.
Please note salary is based on verifiable years of teaching experience as per District guidelines. We also have a tentative salary increase to $48,725, pending BFT contract ratification and Board approval.
