What are the responsibilities and job description for the QA Sanitation Lead position at Bridgetown Natural Foods?
JOB SUMMARY
The Sanitation Lead works alongside the Sanitation Technicians on a daily basis to ensure that assigned work is completed according to Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
· Perform and supervise all sanitation position job functions
· Provides guidance to sanitation and production employees during line and/or MSS (master sanitation schedule) cleaning
· Provide support to maintain the morale of the sanitation department through positive leadership engagement that helps to develop and foster highly engaged, self-directed work teams
· Assist in the creation, and/or revision of SSOPs and assist with sanitation program development
· Trains new hires in safe and effective sanitation procedures and department policies
· Works with the Quality & Sanitation Supervisor on weekly scheduling to assure production equipment readiness and compliance with the Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS)
· Conducts weekly chemical supply ordering and inventory
· Tracks and monitors sanitation supply inventory and ordering. Reports supply/ equipment needs, to the Quality & Sanitation Supervisor.
· Participates in and will actively support all Bridgetown Natural Foods safety, and continuous improvement initiatives
· Works and collaborates with the production and maintenance departments to resolve inter-departmental issues to assure production equipment readiness
· Follows established programs, policies and practices to produce safe quality foods that meet company, BRC and regulatory requirements
· Follows all company policies and procedures as well as the GMP’s and SOPs
· Responsible for reporting safety and food safety issues
· Responsible for the health and safety of self and co-workers
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
· High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
· Minimum of (3) three years of sanitation experience in a manufacturing environment
· Ability to work with and successfully motivate the sanitation team
· Ability to teach and train effectively
· Ability to learn and apply standards including, but not limited to lock-out/tag-out, safety practices, GMPs, SOPs, employee handbook, etc.
· Ability to perform calculations, read instructions, keep records, and deal effectively with partners in all departments
· Basic proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
· Ability to work effectively in a group/team setting and welcome change in a dynamic environment
· Ability to communicate and understand work instructions in English
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL FACTORS
· Continuous (up to 100%) standing, walking, pushing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, twisting, reaching over head, using hands and fingers to manipulate objects, reaching forward and concentrating
· Able to ascend and descend building stairways
· Frequent exposure to water; repetitive movement, bending and twisting, and using hands to handle and squeeze objects, such as hoses and nozzles
· Exposure to sustained noise levels, at times working in very hot temperatures
· Exposure to hazards such as moving machinery, hot water, slippery floors, chemicals, overhead doors, and powered industrial vehicles.
· Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE).
· Able to lift and/or carry up to 50 lbs
· Able to conduct work in adherence to BRC and Bridgetown Natural Foods policies.
· Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and overtime as needed
