Manager Single Student Residence Life
Placement locations for new hires will be determined by directorship.
Job Summary:
Provide administrative direction to Single Student Residence Life in accordance with department direction. Coordinate with assigned campus departments.
Essential Functions:
Manage a Single Student Operation
- Interpret general Residence Life policy for the assigned area
- Supervise single student assistant manager(s) and area hall advisors
- Hold weekly staff meetings with area staff
- Develop, review and coordinate single student processes (check in, check out, cleaning inspection, work orders, contract release, RA duties, interim housing, student early arrivals, front desks, customer service, mail, packages, etc.)
- Develop, review and coordinate single student budget/financial statements, physical facilities, inventories, strategic plans, marketing efforts, student development processes, and assessment of single student processes
- Help with pool operations, as needed
- Manage student damage charges
- Coordinate physical facilities and participate in providing help, as needed. This would include Building Operations (have area Residence Life staff help as needed), Physical Facilities/shops, outside contractors as scheduled by the university, OIT, and involvement in the CNA/Resource Planning process, etc.
Student Concerns and Conduct
- Review student concerns and student conduct cases
- Work with directors on student concerns/conduct cases
- Work with directors and area hall advisors on conduct sanctions
Hiring and Training of Administrators, Staff, and Students
- Select administrators and staff positions in collaboration with managers and directorship
- Review and assist in the hiring of student positions, as needed (Resident Assistants, Conference Assistants, Community Service Assistants, Desk Attendants, Mail Clerks, and Student Coordinators)
- Assist with training for administrators and staff in University Policy and Residence Life Policy
- Utilize the University PDP program for all assigned administrators and staff
- Review and assist in student training (RA training, Conference Assistant training, Desk/Mail training, Community Service Assistant training, and Student Coordinator training)
- Update and coordinate RA compensation with directorship approval
- Review and make recommendations on student wages
Summer Conferences
- Selection and hiring of Conferences Assistants
- Supervise projects and scheduling of Conference Assistants
- Training and mentoring of conference staff
- Assist with the damage collection process
- Work with conference behavioral concerns
Residence Halls Association (RHA) and Resident Assistant Programming
- Counsel with Residence Hall Association Advisors
- Help select, hire, and train the RHA Council members, and Student Coordinators
- Help with RHA conference assignments
- Help with Fall and Winter Leadership
- Help with RHA programs and assignments
- Help with the annual Recognition Banquet
- Coordinate area RA programming
- Help with RHA affiliation
- Help with NRHH structure, selection, training, and affiliation
Safety
- Help with door lockdown schedules
- Train Resident Assistants on security roles and responsibilities
- Participate in and follow-up with compliance reports e.g. Clery Act reporting
- Master card clearances and reviews
- Help with coordination and audit of the Kindoo Door opening system
- Ensure that Fire drills are conducted as required
- Ensure that all safety information (including check-in safety information) is signed for by tenants
Assignments
- Coordinate with 1st Year Experience
- Participate with other committees as assigned
- Complete other duties as assigned
Education/Experience:
Preferred: Bachelor's degree and 5 years of Residence Life experience, other related fields, or other professional experience
