AND we hire great people and treat the very well! Our Agriculture department is looking to add a Greenhouse Control Systems Expert to our team. This job can be located near any of our greenhouses, Rochelle, IL, Wilmington, OH, Selinsgrove, PA, Loudon, NH, Elkwood, VA, or Hendersonville, NC.
In this role you will be responsible for working with growers to establish optimal growing environments using the philosophies of Plant Empowerment. This person will implement and monitor environmental strategies using Priva, Hoogendoorn and Let’s Grow to improve consistency in crop yields and quality.
Specifically, you will:
- Work closely with growers to outline climate issues in each greenhouse
- Optimize strategies for all environmental parameters including temperature, humidity, CO2, and light
- Monitor greenhouse climates and develop reporting methods
- Implement Let’s Grow at all greenhouses
- Identify areas for improvement in energy and CO2 usage and execute sustainability strategies
- Work closely with controls engineers to address control systems issues
- Implement new climate control technologies
The ideal candidate has:
- B.S. or M.S. in Horticulture, Floriculture, Biology, or related field
- 5 years working with greenhouse environmental control systems including Priva and Hoogendoorn
- Experience with Let’s Grow
- Experience with Plant Empowerment
- Ability to work independently and be a self-starter
- Detail oriented and data driven
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to communicate across departments
- Willingness to travel regularly
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Power BI
- Data analytics preferred
- Experience in vegetable crops preferred
