Our Research & Development team is seeking a Laboratory Assistant who will help with data collection, shelf life testing, and other research experiments at BrightLabs.
Responsibilities:
- Researches with and supports the Director of Microbiology and the Hydroponic Ecologist to ensure that appropriate data is collected
- Work in BF Laboratory
- Maintain trials in bench hydroponic test systems
- Participates in shelf life testing of finished and R&D products
- Work on projects related to Pythium enumeration by PCR and culturing technologies.
- Participate in microbial monitoring of greenhouse samples.
- Familiarity with basic lab equipment such as balances, pH meters, centrifuges, and autoclaves.
- Familiarity working under aseptic conditions.
- Help maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Qualifications and Education:
- BS in Biology/Biochemistry or related field or currently working towards degree or advanced degree
- Detail oriented and data driven
- Display excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member under limited supervision.
- Demonstrate basic computer skills – Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook (Power Point and Access Database knowledge beneficial)
Physical Requirements:
This position would require the ability to use hands/fingers, reaching with hands and arms, walking, standing, and sitting daily. Lifting to 25 pounds.
Ability to work at a microscope and in a tissue culture hood for a sustained period while maintaining aseptic materials.
Must be able to distinguish colors and have sense of taste and smell.
