The Technology Solutions Lead is responsible for the identification and selection of new technology solutions for the organization and collaborates with the Information Technology (IT) and Information Systems (IS) technology areas in defining and implementing key technology solutions. In addition, the Technology Solutions Lead will work with a wide variety of technology areas, including information systems, infrastructure-oriented hardware and software, as well as cyber security technology. This position reports to the Director of Information Technology and Systems.

Core Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions:

  • Identify and research new technology solutions for potential use within the organization, focusing on infrastructure, administration, and program service areas.
  • Work closely with IT/IS department leadership to identify technical resources needed to complete implementation of new solutions.
  • Work with program and departmental leadership to understand and clearly document future technology needs; identifies potential solutions and approaches to addressing the needs.
  • Act as technical lead on new solution implementations.
  • Determine costs of solutions for approval by IT/IS director and other organization leadership.
  • Coordinate with program and administrative areas as well as IT/IS project management to develop implementation plans.
  • Document business requirements and creates systems requirements and specifications ensuring that requirements are complete, consistent, unambiguous, feasible, and traceable to larger agency goals.
  • Evaluate feasibility and cost of technological options; verifies that potential solutions will mesh with Brightpoint’s existing infrastructure and collective IS skill set and/or identifies new skills required to successfully support solution.
  • Create project plans documenting the roles and responsibilities of various staff.
  • Collaborate with IT Manager and/or IS Manager to leads development, testing, and implementation of applications, databases, and reports in accordance with requirements specifications.
  • Ensure all elements of successful delivery of solutions are understood and documented.
  • Participate in assigned special projects and responds to ad hoc requests as assigned.

Candidate qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Systems Engineering and Design, or related field required. (A minimum of 3 years of IT/IS work experience may be considered as an alternative to the required degree).
  • A minimum of 5 years work experience in technology operations and/or technology management required (in addition to the degree or alternative work experience above).
  • Experience creating technical documents, such as project plans and systems requirements specifications required.
  • Team leadership and/or managerial experience preferred.
  • Experience with relational database management systems preferred.
  • Experience working with data in child welfare, early childhood education, behavioral health services or a related field strongly preferred.

Job details:

  • Compensation: Range $70,000-$80,000/yr. 
  • Benefits: Medical/dental/vision insurance, 3 weeks paid time off in the first year including the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day (PTO increases with tenure); 11 paid holidays, supplemental insurance options, 401(k) with match (more benefits details here)
  • Location: Must be within reasonable driving distance to Chicago and available to work from home office at 200 West Monroe Street (downtown Chicago loop) 2x/week.
  • Schedule: Full-time, salaried; regular business hours.
  • Student Loan Forgiveness: Brightpoint is an approved agency for Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF).
