The Vice President of Advancement leads the implementation of an integrated resource development and advancement strategy to build the organization's financial resources, visibility, and reputational impact. This individual is responsible for raising private and public dollars in support of Brightpoint’s annual operating budget and strategic funding priorities; directing
volunteer engagement; and managing donor communication and marketing. The Vice President reports to the Chief Advancement Officer (CAO) and works closely with the CAO to implement organization-wide strategies to grow Brightpoint’s funding.

Essential Job Functions: 

  • Plan, implement and oversee fundraising activities including major gifts, annual giving, special events, corporate and foundation relations, prospect research, planned gifts, volunteers, donor communications, donor and volunteer marketing and e-philanthropy.
  • Manage donor marketing and communications to support advancement and fundraising activities.
  • Implement new and innovative revenue streams, with a focus on increasing sustainable unrestricted revenue.
  • Plans, launches, and completes successful campaigns with programmatic, endowment and capital elements that align with the strategic plan.
  • Oversee and maintain a personal portfolio of major donors.
  • Staff the CAO and CEO on the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donor portfolios.
  • Staff the Resource Development and Board Affairs committees.
  • Assist with recruitment and engagement of all volunteer leadership, including the Board of Trustees, to increase their effectiveness in fundraising.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

Candidate qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field required.
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in building organization's financial resources, visibility, and reputational impact, required. 
  • Proven success in managing a comprehensive advancement program.
  • Valid driver's license, insurance, and a reliable vehicle required.

Job details: 

  • Compensation: Salary Range starts at $130,000; offers are commensurate with candidate qualifications and experience.
  • Benefits: Medical/dental/vision insurance, 3 weeks paid time off in the first year including the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day (PTO increases with tenure); 11 paid holidays, supplemental insurance options, 401(k) with match (more benefits details here
  • Location: 200 West Monroe Street (downtown Chicago loop).
  • Schedule: Full-time; Hybrid (remote/in office one to two days per week).
  • Student Loan Forgiveness: Brightpoint is an approved agency for Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF)
