Brightworks Sustainability is seeking a highly capable Project Accountant to join our Strategic Operations team. The Project Accountant will report to the Director of Financial Management and primarily focus on supporting the Consulting team’s project financials, billing, and contract management support. As part of the Finance group, this position will work closely with all levels of the firm to support the project management and external clients.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a customer service-oriented approach to assisting multiple Directors and Consultants with the successful financial delivery of projects and use of the ERP system, Deltek Vantagepoint.

  • Conduct accurate contract documentation, administration, and maintenance including fee and budget entry within Deltek Vantagepoint.

  • Assist Directors and Consultants with drafting required change orders and work with client to obtain required approvals.

  • Support Finance team with client invoice generation and submittals, collections management, project budgeting, and assistance on time sheets and expense reports.

  • Monitor and help manage Accounts Receivable, work to resolve any client payment delays and keep stakeholders updated on status of payment.

  • Research issues related to unbilled time and expense and seek to resolve or identify missing subconsultant invoices.

  • Provide support processing weekly payments and deposits

  • Perform other duties as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years of professional services accounting experience within the AEC field.

  • Deltek Vantagepoint software experience:

  • Advanced understanding of the Hubs, Transaction Center, Billing and Resource Management modules.

  • Experience with Cash Management, Accounting and General Ledger Hubs a plus.

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and proficiency with other Microsoft software and systems including Word, Teams, OneNote, PowerPoint, SharePoint.

  • High level of problem-solving ability and ability to exercise critical thinking skills in a dynamic environment.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication including grammar, punctuation, proofreading, spelling, and telephone skills.

  • Detail-oriented and attention to accuracy. Must be well-organized and flexible with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.

  • Good interpersonal skills to work closely with all levels of stakeholders

Education Requirement: Associate degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience in lieu of a degree

Experience Required: 2 years’ accounting experience, preferably in the AEC industry

Software Experience Required: 2 years' experience with Deltek Vantagepoint

Classification: Full-time, non-exempt

Compensation

The hourly rate range for this position is $29.28 - $33.32. Starting pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, external market value, internal pay equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. Starting rate offers will typically be made in the bottom half of the listed range. In compliance with the Equal Pay for Equal Work Acts, a potential new employee’s salary history will not be used in compensation decisions.

Location

This position is located in Brightworks’ headquarters office in the Pearl District.

Brightworks offers hybrid work schedules. This position is not eligible to be fully remote.
