ROLE: Classroom Assistant
SUMMARY: Classroom Assistants will lead instructional groups of students, supervise students during recess and lunch and help the lead teacher in the classroom as needed.
DAILY DUTIES:
- Lead instructional groups of students
- Supervise students during recess and lunch
- Help the lead teacher in the classroom with a variety of tasks as needed
- Assist students as required by the lead teacher
SKILLS:
- Ability to effectively communicate with teachers and staff
- Ability to effectively communicate with younger individuals
- Excellent at active listening
- Understanding and sensitivity towards children
- Knowledge of the curriculum children are required to learn
- Ability to remain calm during stressful situations
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- H.S. Diploma required; bachelor's degree preferred or a combination of education and work experience
- Proven experience working in an academic classroom

These physical demands must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Employee is regularly required to talk or hear, sit, stand and utilize technology tools such as a laptop computer for extended periods of time. Specific vision abilities include close vision, and the ability to adjust focus. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift up to 20 lbs.
