What You Will Do:
Payroll Manager General Summary:
The Payroll Manager directs/processes all aspects of payroll operations. Oversees payroll processes and procedures and finance demands regarding payroll payments. Designs short-term and long-term strategies for continuous improvement in payroll operations. Manages corporate risk by ensuring proper state and regulatory reporting.
Essential Job Functions:
- Organize and deliver services on a cross-section of Payroll & Workforce Management projects.
- Manage the payroll team and process for timely and accurate payroll submission.
- Perform semi-monthly payroll reconciliation and quarterly reconciliations to 941 reports
- Work with team members and support delivery teams to achieve results
- Timely submission of payroll deductions and contributions to third party administrators.
- Oversee payroll tax reporting, compliance and coordinate required actions with payroll provider
- Facilitate timely and prompt processing and payment of employee benefit payments.
- Oversee timely posting of semi-monthly payroll entries to the general ledger
- Oversee monthly account reconciliations and analysis of payroll accounts
- Support the month-end close process, financial and external audits.
- Reconcile benefits paid against payroll deductions.
- Lead, coach, and mentor junior staff, lead requirements-gathering workshops, and/or facilitate meetings.
- Utilize your superior knowledge of the payroll function and processes to deliver on projects.
Qualifications Required:
- Ten (10) years of overall experience, preferably experience with federal, state or local government sectors.
- Experience with processing payroll and benefits for employees under the Service Contract Act.
- Experience with Paycom preferred.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
- Education Requirement: Bachelor’s Degree.
- Experience Requirement: Minimum ten (10) years of general experience. Minimum three (3) years of experience managing people.
- Equipment Operated: Standard office equipment including computers, fax machines, copiers, printers, telephones, etc.
Work Environment:
- Work performed in an office environment. Involves frequent contact with staff and customers.
Mental/Physical Requirements:
- Manual dexterity for office machine operation; stooping, bending to handle files and supplies, mobility to complete errands or deliveries. Must be able to remain in stationary position for extended periods of time. Stress can be triggered by multiple demands and deadlines.
