Job Description
We are seeking an individual to be our Content Editor. We are scaling up our new and old content and require a highly detailed and thoughtful editor to ensure quality over quantity. The position will be a full-time employee with full benefits, including healthcare, paid time off, and growth opportunities. Our Content Editor will join a hybrid work environment with at least 3 days a week in our Evanston office to collaborate in person with team members.
As our Content Editor, you’d work closely with the Marketing Team. Your responsibility would be to oversee the existing content flow and ensure the overall quality of the content. We will train you to get up to speed and provide writing and editing guidelines, brand information, our basic SEO (Search Engine Optimization) tactics, and various content-related tools we use.
You will direct and manage writing and editing assignments that will be published on our website, external publications, and newsletters. Expect to be involved in printed materials to ensure the copy is accurate and grammatically correct. Lastly, new to our content strategy will be collecting and disseminating collected primary source data. Expect to assign/write reports on the data, summarize for a broad audience, and pull tidbits of that data to enhance existing and new written content.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with supervising and communicating with our team of freelance writers, assigning work, ensuring adherence to existing guidelines, fact-checking, and more.
- Proof and edit content to ensure it adheres to our guidelines, brand, and tone in a timely manner, meeting our weekly deadline schedule.
- Assist with content quality control by revamping old and new content, including adhering to the new format, requesting new graphics, ensuring research is accurate, and rewriting (i.e., missing information, new sources, adding sections for a more robust blog, etc.) when necessary.
- Communicate with other team members to move projects and content along to ensure everything stays on track with the schedule.
- Assist with editing/writing reports from collected data and find key content, new and old, that would benefit from these data results.
- Work with the marketing team to assist in editing monthly newsletters to enhance open and click rates.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree with a major or focus in English, Journalism, or Creative Writing
- Two to three (or more) years of writing experience (editorial preferred)
- Writing for blogs or online publications is a plus
- Flexibility to adapt to changing parameters or deadlines
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Editing skills are a must
- Experience in writing about jewelry or insurance is a plus
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities
- Familiarity with Google Suite, SEO Surfer, Grammarly, and ClickUp are a plus
Compensation & Benefits
This is a full-time position paying $60,000 to $80,000.
Benefits include medical, dental, vision, simple IRA, hybrid-work, and PTO.
