Main Function:

Under the supervision of the Horticulturalist/Grounds Manager the incumbent will assist with the maintenance of seasonal beds and planters, and will also assist residents with gardening.

Education and Experience:

Requires a valid MD driver’s license
Comprehensive knowledge of care, maintenance and upkeep of grounds (plus assistance with design, seasonality of plant material and knowledge of plant installation and maintenance)
Comprehensive knowledge of plant material identification
General knowledge of inventory, order supplies and budget
General knowledge of equipment repair and maintenance
General knowledge of OSHA
Requires ability to maintain a good relations with residents
Requires ability to prioritize duties and responsibilities

Essential Duties:

1. Responsible for assisting with general grounds work as directed by Manager including:

Mulching
Weeding
Watering
Planting annuals
Gathering and removing litter
Hauling and disposing organic material
Snow removal

2. Responsible for higher maintenance and high visible areas that require more comprehensive knowledge of plant selection, seasonality grounds maintenance, design assistance based on the assignments and needs of the Horticulturalist/Grounds Manager.

3. Safely operates and carefully maintains all equipment

4. Cleans up work area when task is completed and must return tools and equipment to proper location, in working order

5. Follows all safety regulations and practices

6. Performs additional duties and projects as assigned by Manager

7. Accountable for promoting internal customer service.

8. Abide by the organization’s code of conduct in the performance of their duties

9. Perform other related duties as required
