We currently have an opportunity for a Psychiatric Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). The LPN administers nursing care to individuals with varying levels of mental health disorders and developmental disabilities under the supervision of a registered nurse.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:· Participates with the interdisciplinary team in specialized patient care activities as needed· Provides general nursing support for the program under the supervision of the registered nurse to perform patient-centric, trauma informed, safe, effective, timely, and efficient individual care. Reports change in condition to the registered nurse when indicated· Administer medications as needed· Reviewing care plans and providing input as needed· Acting as a liaison with doctors, social workers, and other professionals· Provides encouragement support and reinforces positive behavior with a therapeutic, calm approach while maintaining therapeutic boundaries, setting limits, and utilizing de-escalation techniques, including physical intervention skills.· Demonstrates ability to identify and record relevant information for the most common diagnostic groups· Effectively establishes therapeutic relationships with patients and families· Utilizes Trauma Informed Care philosophies when interacting with patients and families.· Leads, or co-leads and/or reinforces teaching of symptom management· Performs admission, discharge, and transfer process under the supervision of the registered nurse· Utilizes therapeutic, Trauma Informed intervention techniques before, during and after the time of crisis to support safe patient de-escalation· Assists with physical crisis intervention techniques and physical restraint during specific crisis situations per policy as needed· Reviews, audits, manages, and teaches medication management principles to CTH-ii homes and GCIS/QRTP under the supervision of the registered nurse as deemed competent by the registered nurse· The ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice provide a basis for the practice of the Licensed Practical Nurse.· The LPN possesses excellent communication skills and may participate on committees or projects. A subset of employees may be required to drive their personal vehicle as a part of the responsibility of their role.· Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including strong organizational, detail and interpersonal skills· Computer skills and knowledge of word processing· Demonstrated ability to work effectively with men and women of diverse races, ethnicities, ages, and sexual orientations in a multicultural environment.· Provide and ensure the complete service delivery in a healthy and safe manner that supports Broadstep’s vision, mission, and values.· Ensure the integration and implementation of all Broadstep and subsidiary policies, procedures, state-specific regulatory requirements, contract stipulations and accreditation standards, including but not limited to:o Knowledge that abuse, (physical, sexual, verbal/psychological), neglect, exploitation and misappropriation and other code of ethics violations are against the law and company code of conduct. The team member must be able to implement all facets of the company’s Abuse, Neglect, Exploitation and Misappropriation policy, including the responsibility of being a mandatory reporter. Per state requirements and company policy, team members will report immediately to the state licenser, appropriate company personnel and external contacts, and they will fully participate in all stages of an investigation pertaining to suspected abuse by team members,parents, and others. Additionally, the team member must comply with any external (County, State or Federal) investigation or inspection.
