Psychiatrist (Part-Time)

Job Description: A Psychiatrist in this position serves as the leader of the treatment team and provides direct clinical care to adults and children; works closely with other clinical members of a defined team and serves an integral role in the treatment of patients in the behavioral health continuum. About the Company:   Broadstep has been a leader in providing a continuum of physical, emotional, and mental support for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD), mental illness, and co-occurring disorders for over 45 years. Broadstep’s North Carolina services include a wide array of mental health and substance use programs and services.  The services provided are community-based, outpatient therapy, and crisis services to serve people where they are. North Carolina programs are CARF accredited and are focused on the concept of whole person care and wellness.    Go to https://www.broadstep.com/ to learn more about the company.     Schedule & Location: (Part Time; Community Based)       Job Type: (Community Based/Onsite)   Position will cover Morehead City, travel reimbursement provided for traveling from Raleigh to Morehead CIty  Job Duties: Direct Clinical Care: Examines patients to determine the presence of mental illness, completes patient information and records social and medical histories, diagnoses illness and prescribes the course of treatment.  Orders and reviews laboratory or diagnostic tests on patients to provide information on general physical condition and mental disorder.  Analyzes and evaluates patient data, tests, or examination findings to diagnose nature and extent of behavioral health issues. Prescribes medications to correct chemical imbalances. Advises and informs guardians, relatives, and significant others of patients' conditions care, treatment, and prognosis with patient consent.   Utilization Review:  Assumes psychiatric leadership responsibilities to the treatment team, conducts case reviews about patient's strengths, goals, and interventions. Collaborates with other professionals on treatment plans and progress. Ensures quality assessment standards are met by following procedures identified by Coastal Southeastern United Care. Supervision: (For Psychiatrist Only) Directs and instructs psychiatric nurses, other professional and non-professional staff regarding the care and treatment of patients.  Reviews and evaluates treatment procedures and outcomes of other Clinical Professionals.   Integrated Care:  Ensures the coordination between the MH/SA services being delivered with primary physical healthcare providers.  Consults with primary healthcare providers on the clinical aspects of the consumer being served and the implication for those consumers’ physical healthcare needs.  Coordinates with medical staff of other providers (i.e., state and community inpatient facilities).   Required Education/Experience:  Medical degree; MD or DO 2-3 years of experience Strong Documentation Skills    Ability to Analyze Detailed Information Strong Verbal Communication Skills Supervisory Experience Preferred    Required License/Credentials:    State licensure as a Board-Certified Psychiatrist    What We Offer/Benefits:    Medical/Dental/Vision    401K  Company-paid Life Insurance   PTO - including Vacation and Sick; Eligible to use after 30 days   Paid Holidays    Other benefits:  Long Term Disability, AD&D, Flexible Spending   Continuing Education Courses – Company Provided
